Lawrence Gilbert Christian, 70, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at his home in Collinsville, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, Okla. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born on Oct. 7, 1941 in Dallas, Texas to Clarence and Gertrude (Shea) Christian. After graduating from Byng High School in 1959, Lawrence went on to attend college at OSU in Stillwater. That same year, he married his hometown sweetheart, Bonnie Kessinger. Lawrence and Bonnie had four children - Cecilia, Lawrence Jr., David and Stephanie. He worked for the city of Stillwater for 13 years, and graduated from OSU in 1978 with a bachelor of science in Mathematics. He eventually moved to Houston, working for Texas International Airlines where the family traveled the world, taking trips to Rome, Italy, Paris, Hawaii and various other places. He later moved to New Mexico where he worked for the city of Las Cruces for 20 years before his retirement. After his retirement in 2003, the family moved to Collinsville. He and his wife enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, family and friends. He was supportive of all their endeavors, and he was his grandchildren's biggest fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Christian; son, Lawrence Christian, Jr.; and daughter, Stephanie Lynn Christian. Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Cecilia Christian; son, David Christian; his grandchildren, Stephanie Lyons, Willie Lyons, and Tatiana Christian; sisters, Mary Bratcher-Baker and Ann Maxwell; and brother, Michael Christian.
