Our loving mother and grandmother, Lorenza O. Lucero, 96, lifelong resident of Mesilla entered eternal life Sunday, April 7, 2013 in El Paso, Texas after a very brief illness. She was born Sept. 14, 1916 in Mesilla to Gregorio and Aurelia R. Ornelas. Mrs. Lucero was a homemaker and a communicant of the Basilica of San Albino. Survivors include two sons, Herman Lucero, Jr. and wife Rafaela of Fontana, Calif., and Leopoldo Paul Lucero and wife Kathleen of Woburn, Mass.; two daughters, Enedina Pittman and husband Bob, and Aurelia Uribe and husband, Osias, Sr. all of El Paso; two sisters, Inez Martinez and Maria Navarro, both of Mesilla. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, Priscilla Garcia, Robert, Leopoldo Paul, Danielle and Jon Paul Lucero, Dina Lubbers, Ozzie Uribe, Jr. and Dianna Torrez, as well as numerous great and great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Jesus, Manuel, Pedro, Mauro, Eulalio and Albino. Calling hours for Mrs. Lucero will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the prayer vigil is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 in the Basilica of San Albino, 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla with the Rev. Richard Catanach, Celebrant. The rite of committal and interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho where she will lay to rest alongside her husband. Serving as casket bearers will be Robert, L. Paul, Jon Paul Lucero Ozzie Uribe, Jr., Croix and Micah Torres.
