It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Maria Elena "Nena" Fielding Guerra, 75, of San Miguel on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. "Nena" as she was fondly known to her family and friends was born March 16, 1938 in El Paso, Texas to James and Juanita Bonilla Fielding. Maria's "Nena" first priority in life was caring of her family she loved working on the family farm and was known in the valley for taking care of the family business and produce stand where she would be found every weekend attending to the customers. Everyone enjoyed her canned Chile Salsa, she would make every year. Maria's salsa was very well known for its unique flavor and taste which came with many years of experience. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing including three sons, Manuel Guerra and wife Cruz of La Mesa, Hilario Guerra and wife Patricia of Las Cruces, and Lorenzo Guerra of San Miguel; three daughters, Martha Rubio and husband Fernando of Anthony, Teresa Guerra and companion Joe Oliver of Las Cruces, and Maggie Chavarria and husband Fernando of Wyoming; a sister, Raquel Diaz of El Paso, TX. Other survivors include twenty grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Nena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Manuel M. Guerra on November 8, 2012; a son, Gilbert Guerra, three brothers and a sister. At Nena's request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in the San Miguel Catholic Church, 19217 S. Highway 28 in San Miguel. Inurnment of Cremains will take place at a later date. The Guerra family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels of Las Cruces and Sunset Crematory. 527-2222.
