After graduation, she accompanied her aunt & several cousins to Mesa, Arizona. While working at a coffee shop in Mesa, Martha met James F. Appleby, her future husband of 59 years.
Jim's work took them to many states and foreign countries. Martha's friendly, outgoing personality and genuine interest in others resulted in many lasting friendships around the world. She was a loving, devoted wife and homemaker who was always there when needed by her family. A loving mentor to all her nieces, nephews, young service people and neighborhood children throughout her life.
Martha was an avid reader, gardener, birdwatcher and enjoyed the southwest deserts. She supported many charities. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions to Disabled American Veterans, American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation or your favorite charity.
A celebration of life service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Graham's Mortuary Chapel, 555 W. Amador Las Cruces, NM 88005. To express condolences, please visit GrahamMortuary.com.
