Mary Sue Allen passed away on June 7, 2014 in Las Cruces.Mary Sue Mote, 87 was born in Justin Texas on March 2, 1927; the 6th of eight children born to Edwin H. and Elva (Allen) Mote. She was the first daughter to survive past infancy. Sue was married to Thomas F. Allen for 45 years, and bore two children. Son, Thomas Richard (Marcia) Allen and daughter Vicki Sue Allen (James) Burns survive her. She remarried in March of 2001 to Earl D. Matney of Midland, TX where she resided until Alzheimer's claimed her mind in 2006. She was moved to Tucson, Arizona to be close to her daughter and then they moved to Las Cruces in 2008.She was predeceased by her parents, husband Tommy, her second husband Earl, brothers Gail B. Mote, Allen D. Mote and Joseph D. Mote. She is survived by her sister Joyce Mote Clower of Gulfport, Mississippi, 6 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 8 step great-grandchildren, 7step-great-great-granchildren and many nieces and nephews.She was always the caregiver, dropping out of school to care for her ailing mother, then throughout her life, she was there for relatives or friends, nursing them back to health, or comforting those who were left mourning the passing of loved ones. She had close friends who shared her love of parlor games. She was a member of the University Church of Christ in Las Cruces. Sue touched many lives during her time on earth, making friends wherever she went. Her faith and upbeat attitude were admired by those who knew her. Much love was given her by her wonderful caregivers at Casa Bella who became extended family members: Jill, Ruth, Patty, Chelsea, Art and Melissa. Ambercare Hospice provided love and support in the final months of her life.Final arrangements are with La Paz-Graham Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the NM Alzheimer's Foundation. No services are planned at this time. Her cremains will be interred in Lakeland Hills Cemetery.
