It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, Mary Emma Romero Galindo, age 70, of Las Cruces on June 9, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 20, 1943 in Mesilla Park to Charlie R. and Felicitas Martinez Romero. Mary worked as a waitress at My Brother's Place for 25 years and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include one son, Vincent Romero and companion Lisa Ybarra of San Pablo; three granddaughters, Alexandria, Sydney and Kasey Romero; five brothers, Samuel Romero and wife Elena, Reynaldo Romero and wife Connie, Rudy Romero, Mike Romero and wife Sophia, Ricky Romero and wife Margaret; four sisters, Virginia Vargas and husband Estevan, Shirleen Ortega and husband Emeterio, Jr., Yolanda Astorga and Betty Romero. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Samuel N. Galindo in 2004, a daughter, Rebecca Galindo and a sister Stella Vargas. Recitation of the Rosary will being at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish, 3600 Parroquia Street in Tortugas where the Mass of Resurrection will follow immediately thereafter with the Reverend Vincent Peterson officiating. The rite of committal and interment will follow in the Tortugas Cemetery where she will lay to rest next to her husband. Serving as casket bearers will be Pete and Arnold Vargas, Johnny Ortega, Brian, Mikie, Eric, and Charlie Romero and Rey Romero, Jr. Honorary bearers will be Marty and Jamie Ortega, Biggie Sifuentes and Zeke Vargas.
