Mary Elizabeth Lippolt passed away on Sept. 7, 2012, at the age of 94, in Las Cruces, in her home at The Heritage Assisted Living. She was born in Madison, Wis. on July 20, 1918, to Arthur and Hester Tappen. She graduated from Madison West High School and attended the University of Wisconsin. She married her high school sweetheart and dancing partner, Harland A. Lippolt in 1941. Harland retired in 1973 as a Madison fire chief and together, they moved to McAllen, Texas where she worked until age 75 as an administrative assistant in the optometry profession. Mary moved in 2001to Golden Mesa in Las Cruces and lived there until this past February. Mary is preceded in death by her husband and five siblings. She is survived by two daughters, Maxine Lynch and her husband George of Rancho Mirage, Calif., Priscilla Schroeder and her husband Arthur of Las Cruces and a son, Dean and his wife Karen, of San Antonio, Texas. Mary was blessed with six grandchildren. Brita Womack and Dagny Dehlsen of Santa Barbara, Calif., Max Schroeder of Las Cruces, Heather Cook of West Linn, Ore. and Adam Lippolt of Phoenix Ariz.. Grandson Drew Lippolt of Austin preceded her in death. She is also survived by 13 great-grand children and a sister, Eleanor Beardsley of Austin. Private services will be held on Oct. 8 in the Golden Mesa Chapel. At a later date, internment will follow in San Antonio at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery next to Harland. Donations may be made to the Mesilla Valley Hospice in Mary's name.
