Melvin L. Williams 72, a Mimbres resident passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at his residence. Services will be held Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Baca's Funeral Chapels. He was born in Roswell on June 29, 1940 to John and Jessie (Wilson) Williams. In 1963 he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country honorably and faithfully. He went to work for Kennecott in 1972. He married Christine Dudley in 1978. After working 27 and a half years in Santa Rita, he retired due to medical reasons. He was raised a Master Mason. He has been honored Worshipful Master four times at the Mimbres Lodge. He later joined the Hurley Lodge #55. Melvin and his wife Christine joined the Order of Easter Star #4 in Mimbres. He has been honored Worthy Patron and Worthy Matron several times. He is survived by his wife loving wife, Christine, his children; Melvin Ray Williams from New York, Melissa from Ohio, Nonis Carpenter from Ohio, Heidi from Vancouver, Wash. brothers; Bobby Harper and wife Faye from Ruidoso, Dwane and Milton Harper from Roswell; sister Wanda Dent.
