Olga R. Parker, 75, of Las Cruces entered eternal life on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. She was born March 20, 1937 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Her husband of 47 years Clyde R. Parker preceded her in death, as well as her sons Bruce Parker and Edward Parker and her daughter Carol Parker; by her parents Ramon and Caroline Roman of Brooklyn; brother-in-law Jack S. Wharton of Las Cruces/Ruidoso, N.M., and niece Donna P. Welborn of Las Cruces. She is survived by her sister Irene Wharton of Las Cruces; her nephew Jay Moccio and spouse of Visalia, Calif.; niece Dawn Machado and spouse of Lemoore, Calif., and three grandnieces, Brittany Brown and Brooke Sterrett of Visalia and Kirsten Welborn and grandnephew Jaden of Ruidoso, as well as three grandnephews, Chad Mendes of Sacramento, Calif., Cory Welborn and Derek Welborn of Ruidoso. She is also survived by numerous Parker family members including in-laws, nieces and nephews. Olga served three years in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958. While she was stationed in Japan, she was a member of the WAC baseball team and successfully climbed Mount Fuji twice during her tour of duty at Camp Zama, Japan. She met her husband Clyde of Damascus, Va. while she was stationed at Fort Monroe, Va. and spent many happy years fishing and hunting with her husband and children until their demise. She was also an avid league bowler in her earlier years. She relocated to Las Cruces in February 2009 from Roswell where she and her husband lived for 10 years prior to his death. Her soft spoken demeanor and shy, gentle spirit will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her. Rest easy dear sister, you are finally home. Funeral services are scheduled at 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 at Ballard Chapel with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery.
