Ray D. Leyba, 41, of Las Cruces, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 31, 2013 with his loving family by his side. Ray was born in Silver City, N.M. to Ramon and Celia Leyba of Silver City on Feb. 7, 1972. He graduated from Animas High School and attended college at New Mexico State University. He is survived by his loving wife, Deanna of 15 years; his beautiful daughter, Ashley, 13; his parents, Ramon and Celia; sister, Linda Gomez, and husband Richard of Animas; brother, Chris and wife Tina of Silver City; five nephews, Richard, Michael, Nicholas, Zachary and Dillon; one niece Isabella, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. He spent his career at Crescent Electric, as a quotation specialist where he worked for 12 years. Ray was an amazing artist that was passionate about painting and music. He had a strong will and a kind spirit. He was full of bright smiles and gentle words. He was always there for a shoulder to lean on. He is a true hero and warrior in his long battle. He is an inspiration to us all. He will be greatly missed as he is dearly loved and respected. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and spending time with his friends and family. He is preceded in death by his aunt Tina Lucero; grandparents, Gustavo and Maria Dominguez, and Ramon and Francis Leyba. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Leyba, Richard Gomez, Shane Davis, Matt Maestas, Michael Gomez, Nicholas Gomez, Richard Gomez Jr., Dillon Leyba, Ray Leyba and Ben Marlin. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at La Paz-Grahams Chapel Mortuary, 555 W Amador Ave., Las Cruces, NM, at 11 a.m. Reception will be held at the New Life church gymnasium, 1500 Isaacs Lane, Las Cruces, NM.
