It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend Raymond "Manny" Lucero, 84, of Las Cruces on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. He was born Nov. 21, 1928 in Fairacres, N.M. to Evangelisto and Maria Lucero. Those left to mourn include his loving wife of 57 years Genevieve Lucero of the family home, one son Richard, and Emiliano, Teresa Lucero of Seattle, Wash., one daughter Patricia Lucero of Las Cruces, granddaughters Oriana Lucero of Tempe Ariz. and Marina Lucero of Denver Colo., Desiree Saavedra and companion Richard Lucero, great granddaughters Mariah Lopez, Grace Lucero, and Jazlynn Lucero. Other surviviors are brothers Arturo and Lito Lucero, sisters Bertha Williams and Angie Lucero as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Manny and Genevieve were both members of the St. Genevieve Catholic Parrish. He served proudly and honorably during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and gardening. He retired in 1994 from Raytheon after 26 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Christopher Saavedra. Visitation for Mr. Lucero will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home Chapel, a prayer vigil will follow at 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the funeral mass at 1 p.m. Jan. 9, 2013 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with Father Ricardo Bauza officiating. The rite of commital and interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Martin and Susie Barela, Eddie Montoya, Ray Lucero, Rick Lujan, and Gus Vega. Honorary casket bearers will be Tom Fletcher, Eddie Montoya, Salome Anaya and Juan Romero. The lucero family has entrusted their loved one to the care of La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home.
