Reymundo ""Ray"" A. Valles passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice. He was born July 14, 1940 to Zacarias Valles and Reina Benavidez Valles. He leaves behind his siblings Celia, Zac, Mary B. Valles, and Elvia Romero, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Sandy, his parents Zacarias and Reina Valles, and two brothers Reymundo and Fernie Valles. Ray graduated from Gadsden High School in 1959 and joined the U.S. Army. After his time in the army he moved to California and became a barber. There he met the love of his life Sandra Sue ""Sandy"" Valles. They had three children, sons, Mike, and Jon Valles and daughter, Sonja Chambers (Steve his son-in-law) and grandchildren Brandon, Amber, Trista and Spencer. When Ray and Sandy retired, they moved back to New Mexico, settling in Mesilla. In his retirement years, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, tending to his property, spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids, and sharing their home with friends and family. Memorial services will be Feb. 9, 2013 at 1 p.m. with military honors at San Jose Catholic Church, 253 E. Josefina St., La Mesa, NM 88044. Reception to follow immediately at church hall. The family is extremely grateful to everyone for their care, food, prayers and condolences. May God richly bless you for all your expressions of love.
