Richard Gamboa Abalos Sr., (10/07/1936-05/22/2008) is resting at the age of 71. He is met in heaven by his mother, Corina Gamboa Abalos, his father Frank Serna Abalos Sr., and his brother Peter Gamboa Abalos and sister-in-law Alice Abalos.

Richard was born is Las Cruces NM, Graduated Las Cruces High School in 1956 and joined the Air Force in 1958. He served 4 years and settled in Phoenix, AZ. in 1969 with his wife and 3 children. Richard retired from AT&T as a Production Control Manager in 1992. He was the proud owner of the United Way Lounge on South Central Ave. from 1992-1997. He was highly respected and loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. His courageous heart, strong mind and loving touch will stay with us always in his memory.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Abalos and his children, Beverly & Rudy Leyvas, Richard Abalos Jr., and Ralph Abalos. His Grandchildren, De Loni & Ricky Mori, David Butler Jr., Ricky Abalos III, Victoria Abalos, Krystal Leyvas and Ruby Mori. His Great Grandchildren, Jesaiah Orona Mori, Aalyah Orona Mori, Ricky Mori Jr., Celeste Mori, Dominic Mori, Lisette "Sulee" Mori, Ruben Mori Jr., Chance Mori, and Ariel New. His siblings, Frank Abalos Jr., Jimmy and Tracy Abalos, Rosalia Abalos and his sister-in-law Lupe Abalos.
Rosary/ Viewing Services were held Tuesday May 27, 2008 from 6pm-8pm at the South Mountain Mortuary, 7007 South Central Ave. Phoenix, AZ. 85043, (602)304-9512. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 1 PM in St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina with Reverend Virgilio Flores officiating. Inurnment of cremains will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery with military honors accorded by a United States Air Force Honor Guard.
