Richard L. Telles, 87, passed away peacefully at Mesilla Valley Hospice after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. Richard was born April 26, 1925 to Ricardo S. Telles and Sostena Lopez Telles. He was a lifelong resident of Las Cruces. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served until his retirement from the National Guard in 1985. He is preceded in death by his parents Ricardo and Sostena Telles; his first wife Mary Dioscs Telles; sons, Ronnie and Harry Telles and Jerry Zwilling; grandsons, Robbie Rivera, Kevin Telles and Tracy MacLaughlin; and brother, Henry Telles and son-in-law, Robert Rivera. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Zwilling Telles; daughter, Cynthia Rivera and Betty Zwilling, of Las Cruces, Louise Blackwell and Margie Demyan of Greenville, S.C.; sons, Richard and David Telles, of Las Cruces; brother, Jimmy Telles of El Paso, Texas, 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service honoring Richard's life will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 6265 Reynolds Drive on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at 2 p.m. Services will be conducted by Benny Torres.
