Richard Guy Welsh, 72, of Wichita Falls, Texas, died on Saturday, June 1, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013, in the chapel of Floral Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Santa Fe, N.M., National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls. A son of the late Almeda Mae (Ford) and Wiley E. Welsh, Richard was born on July 24, 1940, in St. Joseph, Mo. He was a graduate of Ysleta High School in El Paso, Texas. Richard then earned bachelor's and master's degrees in Range Science from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy as a radarman. He was a member of Floral Heights United Methodist Church, NRA, NMSU Alumni Association, Society of Range Management and was a Life Member of the VFW and AmVets. He was an avid photographer, a cowboy and a hunter. Richard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth D'Ann Garrett Welsh; daughters, Wakonda Shawnee Lofland of Wichita Falls and Wyleah Shoshoni Blohm of Farmington, N.M.; sons-in-law, Gurney L. Lofland, II and Mark A. Blohm; grandchildren, Devin Skyler Lofland, Alexandra Shea Lofland, Kylyn Cheyenne Blohm and Caydn Dakhota Blohm; brothers and sisters, Wilford Gary Welsh and wife, Barbara, of Peoria, Ariz., Judy Hervey and husband, Frank, of Longmont, Colo. and Roger Welsh and wife, Carol, of Beaver Falls, Pa.; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
