It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Socorro Mendoza Burciaga, 83, of Anthony. Socorro went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 8, 1929 in Anthony to Ruperto and Tomasa Hernandez Mendoza. Socorro was a homemaker and a communicant at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include her best friend and loving husband of 66 years, Santiago Burciaga of the family home; two sons, Rudy Burciaga and wife Dora of Mesquite and Santiago "Jimmy" Burciaga and wife Maria Luz of Anthony; three daughters, Rosa Murillo and husband Rogelio of Vinton, Texas, Sophia Nunez and husband Arturo of Anthony and Patsy Socorro Padilla and husband Israel of Santa Teresa; two brothers, Simon Mendoza of Doña Ana and Richard Mendoza of Safford, Ariz.; three sisters, Mary Quintana, Ramona Flores and Romelia Rodriguez all of Deming. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Marisela Murillo Hernandez in 2006; and numerous brothers and sisters. Visitation for Mrs. Burciaga will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln St. in Anthony where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m.. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the holy mass of resurrection at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in the same church with Rev. Enrique Lopez, Celebrant. The rite of committal and interment will follow in Anthony Catholic Cemetery where she will lay to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Rogelio B. Murillo III, Armando R. Burciaga, Jesus Murillo, Arturo B. Nunez, Nikki B. Enriquez and Bryan G. Burciaga. The Burciaga family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E.
