Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Socorro C. Limon, 73, of Mesilla, left her dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Mesilla on May 1, 1939 to Jesus Carrillo and Eufrasia Medina Carrillo. Socorro was married to Robert G. Limon in September 1959. Mrs. Limon earned a baccalaureate from New Mexico State University and worked as an educator with the Las Cruces Public Schools District from where she retired after 25 years of service. She was a communicant of the Basilica of San Albino and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Together, Socorro and Robert raised their children, Daniel Limon, Lavinia Salazar and husband Abelino, Raymond Limon and wife Sally, all of Mesilla and Laura Limon-Ramsey and husband Gary, of Las Cruces. She was a wonderful grandmother to Kaleena Montoya and husband Andrew, Jessica Burrington and husband Scott, Mara Salazar, Jeremy and Aaron Ramsey, and Aissa Barros; and a loving great grandmother to Jonah Montoya. She was the pillar of strength to her brothers, Jimmy, Manuel, Arturo Carrillo and Conrad Carrillo and wife Marty, all of San Miguel, Roddy Carrillo and wife Lorraine of Phoenix, Ariz., Frankie Carrillo and wife Helen, of Albuquerque, and David Carrillo and wife Ida, of Las Cruces. Other survivors include numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert G. Limon, and a brother, Sammy Carrillo. Visitation for Mrs. Limon will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 in the Basilica of San Albino, 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Celebration of the funeral mass will be at 11a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 in the same church with Rev. Vincente Petersen officiating. Cremation will follow and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date. Serving as casket bearers will be Al Muñoz, Francisco Carrillo, Andrew Montoya, Samuel Carrillo, Abelino Salazar, Javier Montoya and Michael Carrillo.
