Steven J. Lopez Jr., 40, of Nambe, New Mexico, went to be at peace with the Lord on April 29, 2012. Steven was born on March 30, 1972 in Santa Fe, NM. He was raised in Albuquerque and Las Cruces. Steve-O is loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Praxedes and Otilia Lopez, Cipriano and Eutimia Romero, cousins Dennis Romero, Gary Romero Jr., Christopher Romero, and beloved Nicole Silva (Coly). He is survived in life by his dearly loved son Julian Dennis, parents Steven and Belinda Lopez, sister Cynthia Lopez, nephew and godson, Austin Tharp, his cherished friend Christina Baird Herrera and her son Adan, dearly loved friends Diane and Floyd Silva as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends Steve-O had throughout the country. Steve proudly served as an EMT and firefighter in Santa Fe Fire Department from 1994 until his retirement as an Engineer in 2008. Steve-O had a passion for baseball since he began playing at the age of 4. He became an assistant coach for the Pojoaque High School baseball team for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He was also an assistant coach for Los Vaqueros Professional Baseball team in Las Cruces, NM, during the 2011 season. Steve-O graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1990 where he was a three year letterman in baseball, basketball and wrestling. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer and loved his annual family reunion camping trips in El Valle. He had a huge heart, was a loyal friend, and was amazingly creative and artistic. Honorary pallbearers are Philly Joe Romero, Anthony Gonzales, Richard Romero, Robert Romero, John Romero, Brian Salazar, Jason Vigil, Thomas Romero, and Austin Tharp. Services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012, 1:00 at Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Church located at 9 Grazing Elk Drive in Pojoaque, NM.
