Sylvia Irene Chacon, 62, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at the Advanced Care Hospital of Southern New Mexico, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 26, 1950, in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico to Ramon and Natividad Morales Chacon. Sylvia worked as a bilingual education assistant for many years and was a member of the Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana. Those left to mourn her passing include one son, Rigoberto Villalobos of Colorado, and three daughters: Lorena Ancira of Las Cruces, Claudia Wesenberg of Canada, and Laura Villalobos of Phoenix, Ariz. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation for Ms. Chacon will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the evening service is scheduled for 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, in the same chapel, with Pastor James Underwood officiating. At her request, cremation will take place and inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date.
