Ted Brown Obituary
Ted Alton Brown passed away peacefully in Hatch, N.M. on Sept. 2, 2012, at the age of 82. Ted was born on Nov. 26, 1929, in Colorado City, Texas, to James Edward Brown and Jewel Francis Blackerby Brown. His parents, along with his sisters, Eddie Francis Sanders and Sudie Allene Furr, preceded him in death. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy K. Brown. They were married in Hatch on June 7, 1953. Ted is also lovingly remembered by daughters, Althea A. Brown of Las Cruces, N.M., and Danette B. Clark (Bill) of Los Alamos, N.M.; granddaughters, Tiffany Gomez (Miguel), Tricia Franchville (Jim) and Laura Clark; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Josh Gomez and Chloe, Mia and Lily Franchville. Ted is also survived by siblings Donald G. Brown (Waverly), Charlene Green, Deanie (Geraldine) James (Robert) and Jerry A. Brown (Delia), along with several nephews and nieces. Ted moved to Salem, N.M., in 1931, at the age of 2. He grew up on a farm and continued farming the family's land after his parents' death. Of all the crops he raised, chile was always his favorite. Along with farming, Ted also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his many friends. Up until the time of his death, Ted loved chatting with other farmers at the local coffee shop. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Hatch (421 N. Franklin St, Hatch, NM 87937) on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch.
