Thomas K. Hobby, 82, passed away Oct. 21, 2012 in his home. His loved ones include his wife Carol of 35 years, his son, Richard K. Hobby, his daughter Lisa R. Owens, his twin sisters, Edna Smithline and Virginia Meekins, and his grandchildren Matthew, Meghan, Ashleigh, Darryl, and Kevin and his great grandchildren Joel nad Zoe. He was born in Garden City community of Tulsa, Okla. He was drafted in 1951 and started his military career in Fort Sill, Okla. After 28 years serving in the U.S. military, Europe, and Asia, he retired a colonel. He was a graduate of Daniel Webster High School, University of Nebraska, Shippensburg State, and became an ordained Disciples of Christ minister after graduating from The Phillips Graduate Seminary. Recently moved to Las Cruces from Fort Davis, Texas. Tom volunteered at Mesilla Valley Hospice, La Posada and attended St Paul United Methodist Church. Family has requested donations be made to La Posada. Service will be held at St Paul United Methodist Church, Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at 1 p.m. Eventual burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
