Wendell Teague Obituary
Wendell Burdette Teague, 76, of Las Cruces, N.M., our beloved father, grandfather and friend, passed away on June 27, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center of complications from leukemia. Born in 1935 to Orly and Elsie Teague in Westboro, Mo., he has one sister, Martha Galey. He was a 31-year resident of Las Cruces, and a faithful husband. His marriage to Ruth Adele (Mitchell) in 1960 lasted until her death in 1988 and produced 3 children, Gaylord Teague, Felicia Kubiak, and Mitchell Teague. His marriage to Patricia (Blake) in 1989 lasted until her death in 2004. He did not remarry. Most of his adult life, he made his living in insurance sales and was unusually dedicated to his customers, demonstrated by the fact that he would still assist them years after he retired from the business. Though never on the city council, he was ever present at those meetings making his voice heard, caring for his community. A dedicated father, he would spend portions of nearly every day with his children. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his friends. He is survived by his three children, three grandchildren – Michael Maurer, Christopher Maurer and Kathryn Maurer – and a great-grandson Aiden Maurer, as well as his sister, Martha Galey. A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home Chapel, 555 W. Amador Ave. on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 1 p.m. To send condolences got to www.lapaz-grahams.com.
