Wilhelm Maedche, 81, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Casa del Oro, Assisted Living Center. He was born in Costanta, Romania on April 14, 1932 to Daniel and Lydia Maedche. He survived living in Germany during World War II under Hitler's regime, came to America in 1971 and became an American Citizen on Nov. 19, 1979. He enjoyed photography and was an avid photographer. He enjoyed the outdoors and drove his bicycle everywhere he needed to go. Wilhelm was a medical assistant and also worked in Odessa, Texas in the oil fields for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Lydia; his sister Lucrecia ("Lucy") Gomez; and brother-in-law Antonio ("Tony") F. Gomez, a former chief of police of Las Cruces. He is survived by his son Tonylein and family in Germany; his brother Reinhold Maedche; and his nephews John and Michael Gomez, numerous great-nephews and a great-niece. Funeral services are still pending.
