Johnny Ray Garcia, Sr., age 57, a lifelong resident of Las Cruces passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso. He was born Jan. 16, 1957 to Jose and Guadalupe Porras Garcia. Johnny Ray was employed with Elephant Butte Irrigation District as a ditchrider for twenty-three years, and was a member of the Las Cruces First Assembly of God. Johnny Ray was an avid Harley Davidson rider; had the best sense of humor and kept up with Kardashians. He was very patient, kind hearted and loved his Washington Redskins and their cheerleaders, but mostly importantly he loved his children and grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Johnny Ray Garcia, Jr. and companion Melanie Sepulveda, Jesse Robert Garcia; two daughters, Christina Garcia and companion Juan Hernandez, and Cecilia Garcia and companion Mark Gonzalez all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren, Johnny Ray Garcia III. Brianna Garcia, Klarisa Munoz, Deven Pabon, Mark Gonzalez, Jr. Christifer Pabon, Illianna Garcia, Noah and Jonah Garcia, Mirakole and Julian Avalos, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Johnny Ray was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Antonio and Joe P. Garcia, a sister, Lupita Garcia. At his request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Las Cruces First Assembly of God, 5605 Bataan Memorial West. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date. Johnny Ray will be truly missed and loved for eternity.
