Genoveva V. Munoz, 85, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Friday, March 14, 2014, at La Posada - Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 3, 1929 in Rhineland, Texas to Jesus and Antonia Ortega Valenzuela. Left to mourn her passing are her three sons, Gabriel Munoz of Anthony, Santiago Munoz III (Carla) and David Munoz (Irene), all of Las Cruces and three daughters, Alicia Herrera of Santa Teresa, Elva Munoz (Jerry Rios) and Yolanda Munoz (Pete) all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Santiago P. Munoz, Jr. on Feb. 1, 2014, three brothers, two sisters, one grandson and a daughter-in-law. Calling hours for Mrs. Munoz will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in the Prayer Chapel of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Concluding service and interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho, where she will lay to rest alongside her husband. Serving as casket bearers will be Gabriel Munoz, Jr., Christopher Herrera, PJ Munoz, Ernest Ray Munoz, David Munoz and Paul Munoz. Honorary bearers will be Sonny Leos and Ricky Munoz.
