On March 23, 2014, our beloved mother, Guadalupe Provencio Tarin, age 94, of Anthony entered eternal life and went home with her heavenly Father at Sagecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. "Lupe", as she was fondly known to family and friends, was born August 13, 1919 in Anthony to Agapito and Rosalia Renteria Provencio. At the age of four Lupe lost her mother and was left with her sisters. Later they were all separated, leaving her to fend for herself. That phase in her life did not stop her from loving life, her children and grandchildren. Lupe was very easy to please, never complained. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, and listening to Elvis Presley music. One of her greatest loves was enjoying her phone conversations with her children and friends. Lupe was also known as the "Hat Lady" and had a different hat for all occasions. She was a homemaker, a member of the Roman Catholic Church, and devotee of St. Jude. Those left to mourn her passing include six sons, Jessie, David, Abraham, Daniel, Reyes, and Augustin (Auggie) and wife Roseann Tarin; six daughters, Rosie Chavez, Carmen Lopez and husband Joe, Rachel Farley and husband John, Elaine Gomez and husband Tony, Estella Tarin, and Corina Diaz; two brothers, Joaquin and Augustin Provencio; two sisters, Luz Berridge and Dometila Shaya. Other survivors include twenty-nine grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lupe was preceded in death by the loving husband, Abraham N. Tarin on February 4, 2010, her parents, three sisters, Elisa Alvillar, Serafina Alvarez and Marcelina Provencio, and a brother, Benjamin Provencio. Visitation for Mrs. Tarin will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, (today) March 27, 2014 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the Holy Mass of Resurrection at 2 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Street in Anthony with the Augustinian Recollects officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Anthony Catholic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband. Serving as casket bearers will be Auggie, Reyes, Abie and Danny Tarin, Tony Gomez and Joe Longmire. Honorary bearers will be Joaquin Provencio and Tony Biel. The Tarin Family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Baca' Funeral Chapels of Las Cruces. 527-2222 For online condolences logon to www.bacasfuneralchapelslascruces.com
