Harold L. "Les" Fields, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2014. He died at Mesilla Valley Hospice La Posada. He was 83 years old. He died of congestive heart failure probably connected to complications from his diabetes. Les was born in Springfield, Missouri on July 12, 1930. When he was eight years old, the family moved to Santa Fe, NM where he was raised. He got a degree in Physics from NMSU in 1953. During that time he had an internship with NMSU's Physical Science Laboratory where he continued working until his retirement in 1985. He then spent the next 7 years with Vitro Corporation, essentially in the same position. During his 40 year career he served as Systems Engineer through PSL at the Desert Ship, WSMR, and Section Chief on campus. He served in the Missile Ground Systems Section (MGS) during his employment with NMSU. Les was preceded in death by his parents Glennie and Clarence Fields, and his brother Gene Fields. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Barbara Clevenger-Fields. He is also survived by his sister Dolores Johnson (Cliff), four children: Steven (Beth Ann), Rhonda (Doyle), Lela (Glenn), and Sherri (Rick). He also has two step-children: Karen (Ian) and Mark (Eve). He has 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and 6 step-grandchildren. Les is also survived by his and Barbara's four wonderful rescue dogs: Anderson Cooper CNN (Cooper), Emma, Buddy, and Andy. Per Les' request, there will be no services. His cremains will be scattered in a beautiful place where we scatter our rescue dogs as they pass away.
