Obituary Condolences

Lavone Qualls Twilley, 72, passed away on April 3, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, N.M. She was born to Buford and Cleo Qualls on Sept. 11, 1941, in Clovis, N.M. She married William G. Twilley (Bill) on June 3, 1961, in Clovis. She is survived by her sisters, Anita Fogtman of Houston, Texas; Marilyn Mackey and husband Joe of Shawnee, Okla.; and Dr. Sheila Williams of Las Cruces; her four children, Michael Twilley of Victoria, Texas; and Jeff Twilley and wife, Melody, Melissa Sullivan and husband, Paul, and Brian Twilley, all of Houston; as well as eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and her friend Marty Biggs of Las Cruces. She was preceded in death by Bill Twilley, Buford and Cleo Qualls, and grandson Devin Sullivan. Lavone loved singing with the Genoa Baptist Church choir and teaching Sunday School. She was regularly active in her children's school PTA and often volunteered her time to classrooms. She showed off her green thumb by growing rare plants in her greenhouse and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. In addition, she made many a blanket for the kids. She was in a bowling league for many years. She loved helping others and practiced massage therapy at Back to Health Chiropractic in Las Cruces. She will be cremated at Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis, N.M., and interred next to her late mother, Cleo Qualls, in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens cemetery in Clovis.
