Margaret E. Mort, 80, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at her home in Ruidoso, N.M. She was born on Oct. 23, 1933, in Wilmington, Ill., to William and Bernice Singleton Davy. She was a high school cheerleader when she met her future husband of 62 years, Max Mort. Margaret and Max lived in Wilmington after their marriage in 1952 until 1966, when they moved to Anthony, N.M. They made their home in Anthony until retirement allowed them to spend more time at their Ruidoso vacation home, and they eventually made Ruidoso their full-time home. Max and Margaret enjoyed traveling extensively across the U.S. with the Airstream Club, numerous cruises with family members and organized tours with friends. She enjoyed water skiing, horseback riding, round dancing, and playing Bridge. She was a faithful member of three Baptist churches, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was Sorority Sweetheart. Her love and nurturing for her family was unsurpassed. We will sorely miss her until reunited one day in Heaven. Survivors include her loving husband, Max Mort; children, Jennifer Jones and husband, Randy, Thomas Mort and wife, Jackie, Daniel Mort and wife, Branee, and David Mort; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014, at Ruidoso Downs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randal Widener officiating. A memorial service also will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Anthony, N.M.
