Ruth Feagan Obituary
Ruth was born in Plainview, Texas on June 16, 1919 to Jacob Ira and Lilly Belle Cargill. She grew up in Plainview until she met the love of her life, Thomas Calvin Feagan. They married in 1939 and lived in Clovis New Mexico where they owned and operated Feagan's hardware and Feagan's Cleaners. Tom and Ruth moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1966. Ruth's love of serving led her to pursue her nursing degree from NMSU. She passionately worked in the Labor and Delivery Department of Memorial General Hospital for many years. Ruth's infamous back rubs on expecting mommies, and her tender touch helped many new born babies enter this world, Ruth was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and one of her greatest pleasures was to attend Sunday morning services and Sunday School to be in the fellowship of her Lord and her church family. Ruth's kind and gentle nature will be remembered by those who had the good fortune to know her. She quickly had a smile and an encouraging word for anyone she met, and she loved to laugh and read jokes to the entire family. Her children will forever be grateful for the loving example of serving God and others she set before them in the way she lived her own life. Her grandchildren will forever remember their Nanny driving them around singing her silly song, her peaches and ice cream, and the vision of her dragging her lawn chair behind her to watch their sporting events. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Tom in 1997, her brothers, Alvin, Don, and Paris, and her sisters Frances, and Opal. She is survived by her daughters, Tommye White and husband, Bob, of Bryan, Texas, Frances Scappaticci and husband Carmine of Las Cruces, one son, Mike and wife Deanna of Amarillo, Texas., 12 grandchildren, Robert, Ed, Matt, Darren, and Jacob White, Jennifer Cooley, Berle and Larry Timms, Kari Jones, Amanda Mckellar, and Cody and Shane Feagan, 23 great- grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. We will miss you, Nanny Ruth! Services will be taking place at La Paz-Grahams Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday April 19, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be following the funeral service at Masonic Cemetery. Services are entrusted to La Paz-Grahams Funeral Home.
