Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Josefa "Josie" Acuña Acosta, 56, of Anthony, entered eternal life on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. "Josie," as she was fondly known to family and friends, was born June 5, 1957 in Canutillo, Texas, to Antonio Sr. and Rosalia Segura Acuña. She was a homemaker and a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include her loving husband of 35 years, Juan Ernesto Acosta, of the family home; two sons, Richard Acosta and wife, Rebecca, of Santa Teresa, Joseph Acosta and companion, Maribel Lara; one daughter, Cindy Acosta all of Anthony; four brothers, Junior Acuña (Rebecca), Frank Acuña (Irma), Salvador Acuña (Petra) all of Anthony, Johnny Acuña (Olivia) of Chaparral; five sisters, Virginia Murrillo (Luis) of Chamberino, Cruz Guerra (Manuel) of La Mesa, Lupe Valdiviezo (Raul), Magdalena Acosta (David), all of Anthony, and Bertha Acuña of La Mesa. Other survivors, include one precious granddaughter, Jenna Acosta, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Josie was preceded in death by her parents, and her parents-in-law, Juan Sr. and Virginia Acosta. Visitation for Josie will begin at 10 a.m. today, April 25, 2014, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln St., in Anthony, where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. The Holy Mass of Resurrection will follow immediately thereafter with the Order of Augustinian Recollects officiating. At Josie's request cremation will follow and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date. Serving as casket will be Antonio Acuña Jr., Johnny Acuña, David Acosta Jr., Derek Acosta, Timothy and Ronald Ballinger.
