Gary Lee Romero passed away at Gila Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. He was born in Pueblo, CO on September 14, 1956, has taken his drumsticks to Heaven to join so many musicians that have gone before him. His lifelong love and commitment to music was only second to his love for family. As a young boy he was always beating the drums and dressing the part of the latest pop groups fashion style. He also had an Associate degree in Mortuary Science and was a licensed Mortuary Practitioner in 1994. He managed the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home of Silver City and Lordsburg from 1990-1995. While attending WNMU in Silver City, NM he was a member of the President's list Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. His admiration for the Beatles especially John Lennon helped create his style of music. As a touring musician he found a new home in Santa Clara when he arrived to perform at a local venue and met the love of his life Cecilia Chapin. Gary would take any chance he could get to sit a young person behind his drums and let them have a feel of creating a beat, however (offbeat) it may have been. Musicians from around the country were forever calling asking him to come out and lay down a beat for a new or seasoned band that needed a drummer. Gary would come out and help out but never for long because he did not want to be away from Santa Clara and his family and friends that he loved. Whenever asked why you are living here instead of LA or New York he always had the same reply, "I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round (John Lennon). He leaves behind many who love him dearly including his wife, Cecilia Chapin Romero of 32 yrs and children, Gary Lee Romero Jr and girlfriend Antoinette, Daniel Richard Romero, Vanessa Lynn Romero and Brenda Lee Romero all of Santa Clara; his mother, Mary Davis; sister, Julie Marquez; brother, Rory Keeth and wife Carmen; niece, Jennifer Jean; five grandchildren, Aniyah, Anahi, Izellah, Royce Jr. and MishaeMarie; mother-in-law, Antonia Chapin; brother-in-law, James Chapin, Toby Padilla and wife Sandra; sisters-in-law, Debbie Chapin, Linda Placencio and husband Rey "Dindy", Gladys P.
