Antonio "Tony" Holguin, 69, a resident of Santa Clara, NM entered eternal rest Monday, May 5, 2014 at Casa de Oro Center in Las Cruces, NM. He was born September 29, 1944 in Silver City, NM to Albert R. Holguin Sr. and Ruby (Maes) Holguin. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 65-69. He served on Mcgoff and Oggen ships in the Vietnam War. He had a love for classic cars. He loved casinos, the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed listening to his Mexican music. He was a very loving and caring man. The BEST Nino a girl could ask for. He is survived by two brothers, Albert D. Holguin and wife Rose of Silver City; Frederico Holguin and wife Stella of Santa Clara; six godchildren, Casey Holguin, Jocelyn Holguin, Jackie Sosaya, Sandy Gonzales, Freddie Holguin and Robert Alirez; his Godmother, Adelina H. Duran of Las Cruces; one aunt, Felicitas H. Chavez of Las Cruces; and uncle and Godfather, Edward R. Holguin of Silver City; a special friend, Rosie (Heredia) Delfin. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be Monday, May 12 from 6-7pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary and prayer vigil to begin at 7pm with Deacon Bill Holguin reciting. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 13 at 9:30am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Robert Becerra officiating. Concluding service interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Jason Benavidez, Freddie and Ralph Holguin, Lawrence Salas, Raymond Holguin and Jimmy Duran. Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of his family.
