Alfonso Terrazas, 90, entered eternal life on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Sagecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. Alfonso was born May 11, 1924, in Manuel Benavidez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Refugio and Apolinar Polanco Terrazas. He retired as a farm worker and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include three sons, Joaquin Terrazas and wife, America, of Del Cerro, Roberto Terrazas and wife, Olga, of Moongate and Jaime Terrazas and wife, Olga, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three daughters, Maria Garcia and husband Eugenio, Martha E. Orona all of Berino, and Bertha A. Valenzuela and husband, Joe, of Mesquite. Other survivors include 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Alfonso was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maria de Jesus Terrazas on Jan. 19, 1996, two brothers, Luis and Armando Terrazas, a sister, Francisca Aranda, and a son-in-law, Isaac Orona. Visitation for Mr. Terrazas will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 125 W. Mesquite St., in Mesquite, where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 10 a.m. The Mass of Resurrection will follow immediately thereafter, with the Rev. Alejandro Reyes officiating. The rite of committal and interment will follow in Missionary Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife in the family plot. Serving as casket bearers will be Robert Terrazas Jr., Joaquín Terrazas, Jayson Orona, Andrew Orona, Jaime Valenzuela, Joey Valenzuela, Ricky Gonzalez, Rene Terrazas and Peter Terrazas.
