Manuel "Big Man" A. Enriquez, 61, lifelong resident of Las Cruces entered eternal life Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. "Big Man" as his was fondly known to family and friends, not because of his size but because of his heart was born June 17, 1952 to Gonzalo H. and Mary Arzabal Enriquez. He had a passion for baseball and after he stopped playing, he coached the Cobras Baseball and Tequila Slammers Softball Teams. Manuel loved to camp, fish, hunt, and watch his San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Dodgers play. After retiring from the Las Cruces Public Schools, he enjoyed preparing taxes for the local community and was member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of thirty-six years, Maria Loya Enriquez of the family home; three daughters, Jessica Enriquez and husband Alejandro Brito of Las Cruces, Christina Enriquez of Albuquerque and Dannella Enriquez and companion Javier Flores also of Las Cruces; three brothers, Gonzalo Enriquez and wife Sylvia of Phoenix, AZ, Larry Enriquez and wife Terry, and Jimmy Enriquez; two sisters, Pauline Moreno and husband Gilbert and Irene Enriquez all also of Las Cruces. He was a dedicated grandpa to Isabelle and Elias Brito, and Josiah Flores; a cherished uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tommy Enriquez; maternal and paternal grandparents. Big Man will be reposing Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 2 PM to 4 PM in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:30 PM the same evening in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina Street. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Mass of Resurrection at 10 AM Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in the same church. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in San Albino Cemetery in Mesilla where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Nathan, James and Gary Enriquez, Andy Moreno, Alejandro Brito, Javier Flores, Gabriel Duran Jr., and Archie Zapien. Honorary bearers will be Elias Brito and Josiah Flores.
