Terry B. Torrance, 68, a lifelong resident of Las Cruces, entered eternal life May, 17, 2014, at La Posada –Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by family. He was born March 22, 1946, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to Roy and Laura Torrance. After graduating from Las Cruces High School in 1964, he joined the United States Air Force. Terry proudly served his country in two tours to Vietnam. Terry was honorably discharged in 1968, with the rank of sergeant and the following honors: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Soon after, Terry began his career in the welding industry, working with his father, Roy, at Valley Welders Supply. He found his love for local and outside sales, becoming the branch manager. Terry worked for Valley Welders Supply until the mid '90s, when he became the district manager for South West Airgas. He served on the advisory board for the New Mexico State University Vocational Welding Trades Program. Terry retired from Airgas in 2010 and later worked temporarily at Argyle Welding conducting outside sales. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Laura Torrance, and sister Illene. He is survived by his daughter Madelyn Boone (Trent) of Las Cruces; three granddaughters; sister Nanette Janney (Richard) of West Liberty, Iowa, along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Terry was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, camp and ride four-wheelers with family and friends. He was known for his amazing customer relations and always being true to his word. He was an easy going man who had a passion for this country and the true American values. His daughter, granddaughters and son-in-law were his pride and joy. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him. There is a visitation for Terry today, May 20, at La Paz Graham's Funeral Home at 5 p.m. On Wednesday, May 21, Terry will have a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, where he will be laid to rest.
