Bob Sprinkle, 85, passed away on May 11, 2014, surrounded by his family, at La Posada, Mesilla Valley Hospice. The Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on May 23, 2014 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Services are entrusted to La Paz-Grahams Funeral Home. Bob was born November 9, 1928 in McAlister, NM to Houston Rex and Anna's Martha (Dodson) Sprinkle. Although his parents lived in Rocky Ford, CO, they traveled to Grandma Dodson's for the birth of their first child. Bob Graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1946 and joined the Air Force where he served his country for 22 years. He worked for Raytheon Company for Almost 20 Years as a radar technician and engineer's assistant. Bob was married to Dorothy (Keener) Sprinkle on June 11, 1949 in the Little Chapel on the Woods on the campus of TSCW, Denton, Texas where Dorothy had attended school. They were married for almost 65 years. Bob enjoyed life. He loved doing things with his grandchildren and watching them have fun. Playing bridge or domino games, gardening, traveling, fishing, researching family history, reading, playing computer games, listening to music (particularly jazz), or sitting at home watching TV with a cup of coffee and some cookies nearby were his favorites. A member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church for 48 years, Bob served on various committees and was head usher for the early service for several years. He and Dorothy taught 4 & 5 year old Sunday School and worked with the Youth Group. He is the only non-educator to have served as president of Las Cruces Education Retirees. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Brenda Gale Sprinkle, and brother, Eugene "Gene" Sprinkle.
