Rev. Fr. Joe Saiz, D.D., (Joseito) son of Carlos W. and Caroline M. Saiz passed away quietly at his home in Pomona, California, on Thursday, May 22, 2014. He was born September 10, 1938, in Las Cruces. At age 14 her moved to Los Angeles, California, but eventually settled in Pomona with his family. Joe was a bilingual branch parish pastor of the Universal Life Church and was always there to help anyone in need. He is survived by a son, Misael Ramirez Saiz; two sisters, Virginia Saiz and Geneva Jochimsen; five nieces, Helen Bray, Lorraine Enriquez, Kaitlin Jochimsen, Victoria Jochimsen and Amanda Jochimsen. Visitation for Rev. Saiz will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, 201, in St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina with Reverend Ricardo Bauza officiating. The rite of committal and interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, 100 N. Espina, where he will be laid to rest.
