Socorro M. Ontiveros, 81, of Las Cruces, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014. She was born Feb. 15, 1933, to Juan and Teresa Madero. She was a homemaker and a member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1976. Socorro and her husband, Alonso, resided in Deming prior to moving to Las Cruces in 1988. Socorro touched the lives of so many brothers and sisters with her warm personality and humorous stories of her faithful services to Jehovah. Despite many years of illness, she gave us the motivation and strength to continue relying on Jehovah God for his loving care. One of her favorite biblical texts was Revelation 21:3 and 4, where God promises a life free of pain and suffering. She longed to see her husband, family and friends in the resurrection. Socorro will truly be missed by her family and friends and will forever be in our hearts. She is survived by her children, Maria, Ambro (Lupe), Jesus and Sukie; grandchildren Johnny, Olivia, Raquel, Daniel, Jonathan, Alonso and Amber; great-grandchildren, Juan Carlos, Braden, Elliot and Kennedy; a sister, Ramona Vizcarra, along with many nieces and nephews. Socorro was preceded in death by her husband, Alonso Ontiveros, in 1991, two sisters and three brothers. Funeral discourse will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in Baca's Funeral Home, 300 E. Boutz Road, with Elder George Prieto presiding. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Ave., where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Services arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Home of Las Cruces. 527-2222 For online condolence logon to www.bacasfuneralchapelslascruces.com.
