Our beloved, husband, father, pastor and friend, Fidel Alfaro, 67, entered eternal rest on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014. Pastor Alfaro was born April 25, 1947, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Aurelio and Maria Guadalupe Solis Alfaro. He completed the Bible Institute Silo and became the pastor of Pastor del Valle in Hatch, New Mexico, from 1991 to 2008, then of Aposento Alto in Las Cruces, New Mexico, from 2008 to 2012.
Pastor Alfaro married Martha (Ramirez) Alfaro in 1972; they were married 42 years. He is survived by his wife, Martha Alfaro, his four children, Maricruz Alfaro Solis (43) and her husband, Manuel Solis, Rocio Alfaro (38), Isaias Alfaro (27) and Joel Alfaro (25); his six grandchildren, Isaac, Valerie, Joshua, Robert, Joseph and Noah; three great-grandchildren Mia, April and Isaac; five siblings, Isidro Alfaro, Ignacio Alfaro, Juana Maria Alfaro, Andres Alfaro and Emma Alfaro, and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aurelio and Maria Guadalupe Solis Alfaro and brother, Marcelino Alfaro.
Pastor Alfaro unselfishly gave his life to serve the Lord. He had a passion to help others and helped bring many to Christ. He was very charismatic, always full of energy, loved to minister to people and had a great sense of humor. Pastor Alfaro was loved by his congregation, friends and neighbors.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, and funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Aposento Alto, 5245 Cortez, in Las Cruces. Serving as casket bearers will be Isaias Alfaro, Isaac Vigil, Joshua Vigil, Robert Gilbert, Joseph Gilbert and Noah Vigil.
