Jennie Olivas Baca, 85, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Aug. 12, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 21, 1929, in Arrey, New Mexico, to Lucio and Rosita (Palion) Gutierrez. She worked many years for Carrie Tingley Children's Hospital in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, and in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before retiring. Jennie was an active member of the Basilica of San Albino in Mesilla, Nw Mexico. Her interests included bowling in the Senior Olympics, crocheting, and organizing and hosting women's prayer groups. She devoted much of her time to her children and grandchildren, as well as extended family. Jennie touched many lives with her unending love and generosity and will be greatly missed.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, Lucio and Rosita Gutierrez; her granddaughter, Monica Olivas; along with numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sister, Helen G. Sedillo, of Truth or Consequences; her sons, Robert Olivas and wife, June, of T. or C., Ruben Olivas and wife, Ida, of T. or C., Gary Nuanez, of Las Cruces, and Ralph Olivas and wife, Leah, of Carlsbad; her granddaughter, Stacy Rush and husband, Tyson; grandson, Bryan Olivas and wife, Katie; her great-grandchildren, Christian and Seth Coulter, Selena Montoya and Orlando Miyamoto, Ashtyn and Stetson Olivas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary vigil will be held at San Jose Catholic Church in Arrey on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass celebrated by the Rev. Don Hyatt.
