The Guest Book is expired.

It is with heavy hearts that we saw Delmar fall asleep in death but are comforted in knowing that he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. We all look forward to welcoming him back to a healthy restored life in paradise.

Delmar was born in a small farming community, Sterling, Colorado, to Dalton and Eva Hunker. He was the third of nine siblings all born and raised in Colorado. He married Dorothy Lynn Miner on Sept. 1, 1954 and they had three daughters: Rebecca, Tymeko and Abigail. Delmar and Dorothy dedicated their lives to Jehovah as Jehovah's Witnesses in 1968 and Delmar proved faithful and loyal down to his last breath.

He had a variety of jobs during his lifetime but the ones he enjoyed and talked about the most were farming, working and retiring from the Pawnee Power Plant, and driving the school bus. He was a farmer most of his young life and spent nearly 17 years in Las Cruces as a school bus driver in his later years. Everyone he came into contact with was touched by his loving, happy demeanor.

Delmar is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 60 years, his daughters, Rebecca Nuñez and husband David, Tymeko Reyez and husband Scott, and Abigail Hunker; his granddaughter, Harlie Reyna and husband Jose; four grandsons, Christopher Nuñez, Travis Reyez, Gregory and Benjamin; sisters, LaVerna Waitley, Shirley Hunker, and Patty Daniels; one brother, Bruce Hunker, and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held Friday, (yesterday) Aug. 15, 2014, at the Jehovah's Witnesses Las Cruces, 901 Mulberry Avenue.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Home of Las Cruces and Sunset Crematory, 300 E. Boutz Road Las Cruces 527-2222. For online condolences logon to www.bacasfuneralchapelslascruces.com.
