With deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved LARRY ARTHUR FERNANDEZ II, 36, of Albuquerque on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. "LA" as he was fondly known to his family and friends was born on a clear sunny day, Thursday, September 15, 1977 in Las Cruces to Libby Ann Tellez and Larry Arthur Fernandez.
LA graduated in 2011 as a Crimson Scholar with his Associates of Applied Science in Welding Technology from New Mexico State University, DACC. After graduation he moved to Albuquerque with his family to pursue welding, while Brandi pursued her nursing career. LA was also an aspiring artist with many talents.
LA's smile was contagious to everyone around him. "Oh, what a character." He was full of laughter, love, mischief and unpredictable moments. His love for his family and friends was immeasurable. To include his love and faith of our heavenly Father.
Survivors include his wife, Brandi Fernandez; daughters, Destiny and Denise; son Jory Patrick Fernandez all of Albuquerque, Devon Schroeder of Las Cruces; his mother, Libby Ann Tellez; a sister, Marli Tellez; father, Larry Arthur Fernandez and wife Ernestine "Lupe"; two brothers, Mario B. Lopez (Jamie), Derek Ryan Fernandez; sister, Chrystal Lopez all of Las Cruces; four uncles, Louis J. Tellez (Laura) of James Town, NC, James Paul, Gregory Raymond Fernandez (Lisa); aunts, Eva Marie Hernandez (Johnny), Sally Ann Fernandez all also of Las Cruces, Irma Jo Fernandez-Leos (Jesus) of Phoenix, AZ; cousins, John Matthew Hernandez, Joleen Michelle Muñoz, Greg Fernandez Jr., Vicente Pablo, RaeAnn Nicole, Andrew Jay, Julian Michael, and Jewel Lee Fernandez, as well as numerous other uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. La was preceded in death by his brother, Jory Patrick Fernandez; his maternal grandparents, Jose Luis and Isabel L. Tellez; paternal grandparents, Arturo O. and Elodia Ledesma Fernandez.
Visitation for LA will begin at 6 PM Wednesday, August 20, 2014 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 10 AM Thursday, August 21, 2014 in Our Lady of Health Catholic Church with Reverend Ed Roden-Lucero officiating. Cremation will follow and Inurnment of Cremains will take place at a later date.
Serving as casket bearers will be Todd Franzoy, Julian Jaramillo-Fernandez, Jaime Nañez, Gerardo Marquez, Arturo Guerrero and Mario Padilla. Honorary bearers will be Eddie Tomé, Matthew Hernandez, Michael Garcia, Dominic Polanco and Ray Acuña.
