Gilbert L. Garcia. His beautiful life ended Sunday January 24, 2010 at the age of 66 at his home in Hurley surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will begin Friday January 29, 2010 at 5 o'clock in the afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapels and the prayer vigil and rosary service will be there at 7 o'clock led by Dr. Gilbert Arizaga. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday January 30, 2010 at 10 o'clock in the morning at Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Hurley with Fr. Robert Becerra, KCHS, D. D. officiating. The rite of committal and interment will follow at the Hurley Cemetery.

Gilbert was born July 30, 1943 in Hurley to Anselmo V. Garcia and Eugenia Leyva and graduated from Cobre High School Class of 1964, was a communicant of the Catholic Church and had served in the New Mexico National Guard. For many years he was a meat cutter at Furr's Supermarket in Silver City. Gilbert carried an air of humor and gratefulness exhibiting kindness and concern to all that he met. He had many friends and felt honored to have them in his life.

Survivors include his children, Gilbert M. (Tina Marie), grandchildren, Mellanie, (Jeremy), Corrina, Eric and Amber, great-grand baby, Baby Lauren, David D. (Alejandra), grandchildren, Angie, Kayla, Leo, Genavi and Antonio, Christopher J. Garcia (Camille) and Delicia A. Garcia; brothers and sisters, Cecilia Puentes, Ernie (Gloria), Manuel (Teresa), Martha Lopez, Henry (Dolores), Sally, Lencho (Gloria), Eddie (Suzie) and many nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Gilbert M., David D. and Christopher J. Garcia, Michael G. Duran, David Russell and Leo Montemayor. Honorary bearers named are Manuel, Ernie, Henry, Lencho and Eddie Garcia, Gilbert A. Espinoza, and Waldo Winborn.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Anselmo V. and Eugenia Garcia and nephew Lenchito Garcia.

His children acknowledge gratefully the services of "Aunt Sally" and Gila Regional Hospice for all their loving care.
