Jennie Teitsworth Obituary
Jennie Teitsworth, 102, of Las Cruces, N.M. entered eternal life Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. Jennie was born June 23, 1910 on a farm in Vinton, Texas to Pedro and Isabel Archuleta. She attended Guardian Angel School in El Paso and El Paso High School. Jennie then relocated to Los Angeles, Calif., where she met Leroy Teitsworth, a Pennsylvania coal miner who was in Southern California, courtesy of the U.S. Army. They married and eventually settled in Dell City, Texas where Jennie opened a restaurant, which became famous for her chicken-fried steaks, chiles rellenos and enchiladas. She was a strong and independent woman who continued to run her business and raise three boys after the death of Leroy in l962. The boys grew up and left home but Jennie continued to run her business until the age of 94 when she moved to Las Cruces and retired. Survivors include her two sons, LeRoy Teitsworth and wife, Teresa of Reno, Nev., and Joseph Teitsworth and wife, Carol of Littleton, Colo.; grandchildren, Michael and Joelle Teitsworth of Las Cruces, Rice Teitsworth and wife, Angela of West Virginia, Apryl Cahill and husband, Brian and Cinnamon Kennedy all of Coppell, Texas, Katy Tennessen and husband, Ben, and Christopher Teitsworth and wife, Jennie all of Littleton, as well as seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy, a son, Charles and a brother, Lorenzo. Calling hours for Jennie will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 in the Peace Chapel of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, Fort Bliss, Texas where Jennie will be buried with her husband.
