Obituary Condolences

Keian James Padilla Parra, 15, passed away in Las Cruces, N.M., on Oct. 31, 2012. He was born to Marcia Padilla and Adrian Parra, Jan. 21, 1997 in Las Cruces. Keian is described as a loving son and brother. Keian would always share his talents to help his sisters with school projects and athletics. Keian was also a great son, always helping his parents with the household responsibilities. Keian is described by his friends and fellow students as having a great sense of humor, an amazing dancer, and a gifted artist. Keian loved to go camping, fishing and playing video games. He inherited his mother's ability to make friends easily. He always had a smile on his face and never said an unkind word. Keian attended pre-confirmation classes at Newman Center Catholic Church. He received his first communion at Holy Cross Catholic Church. He had a strong faith and a personal relationship with God. He was an employee with Budagher Company. He had a work ethic far beyond his years. He always arrived early and was a hard worker. Keian was a sophomore at Oñate High School and a member of the Onate High School Varsity Cross Country Team. He was to run his first varsity meet the Saturday following his death. Keian is described as determined, dedicated and hard working by his coaches. They say he was positive and everyone could count on a smile on his face. Keian always had sunglasses on during his meets and his teammates soon began to follow, both his style and smile were infectious!! Keian was preceded in death by his mother, Marcia Parra. Marcia "Marcy" Kirker Parra, 35, who passed away in Las Cruces, on Oct. 31, 2012. She was born to Ofelia Kirker and Lee Padilla on July 6, 1977 in Silver City, N.M.. Marcy married Adrian U. Parra, together they raised, Keian James Padilla Parra (15), Ariana Denyse Parra (12), Halene Marie Parra (9). Marcy was a beloved wife and mother. All though Marcy had many accomplishments throughout her life, her main priority was always her family. Marcy was a beloved catechist by everyone who knew her. She taught kindergarten, first, second, and sixth grade as well as first communion family preparatory classes at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Marcy's strong faith was evident by how she lived her life. She instilled her faith in both her children and students. Marcy was a dedicated volunteer at her children's schools. She was well known in their classrooms and was loved by all of her children's friends and their teachers. She volunteered many hours at Highland Elementary, Desert Hills Elementary, Camino Middle School, and Oñate High School. Marcy was a valuable asset at Budagher Company. She had an amazing work ethic and was always willing to put her work aside to help others when they needed her. She excelled at any project put before her. Besides bringing a brightness and light to our work family, she was a friend before a coworker. Marcy and Keian are survived by his father, her husband, Adrian Parra, his sisters, her daughters; Ariana Parra and Halene Parra, his grandparents, her parents; Ofelia Kirker and Lee Padilla, his great-grandparents; her grandparents; Robert and Ofelia Kirker, her sisters, his aunts, Melissa Sandoval and husband Albert, Valerie Gieser and husband Paul, her brother, his uncle, Chris Padilla, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Pacheco, Yvette Martinez, Monica Castro, Kristy Serna, Matt Hill, Octavio Perez and Gabriel Flores. Marcia Parra was preceded in death by her son, Keian. Rosary for Marcia and Keian are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral at 7 p.m., officiated by; Bishop Ramirez, Father Ray Flores and Father Mike Micaya. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the same church. Inurnment will take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral Columbarium following the funeral.
