Marcelina "Nena" Menchaca, 54, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. "Nena" as she was fondly known to family and friends was born Nov. 25, 1957 in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico to Fidel and Edmunda Moreno Menchaca. She was a cook and a member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include son, Luis Menchaca; daughter, Rachel Nevarez both of the family home; six brothers, Manuel Menchaca of Phoenix, Ariz., Mario and Alfonso Menchaca both of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, Robert Menchaca of Kansas City, Kan., Pablo Menchaca of St. Paul, Minn., and Jesus Menchaca of Oklahoma; three sisters, Isidra Menchaca and Bertha Menchaca both of Chihuahua City, Mexico, and Maria Teresa Menchaca of Oklahoma. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation for Nena will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina St. where the prayer vigil is schedule for 2 p.m. The funeral mass will follow immediately thereafter. Cremation will take place and inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date.
