Joey Henry Apodaca, 44, left this world on Dec. 23, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. God's angels came down to carry him to his heavenly home where he will have eternal life with his lord and savior Jesus Christ. He was born to Henry Apodaca and Lydia Lozano Apodaca on Feb. 6, 1968, in Los Angeles, Calif. He moved to Las Cruces, N.M. at the age of 3. He was raised by his loving grandparents Jose and Margaret Apodaca. Gabriel Apodaca, Joey's uncle, opened up his home and heart and tirelessly cared for Joey in his last few months on earth. Joey was the proud father of Cheyenne; she was his joy and comfort. Those left to carry on his memory are his daughter Cheyenne Wood; mother, Lydia L Apodaca; grandmother Margaret F. Apodaca; brother, Michael Apodaca, sisters Yvette (Carlos) Penilla and Darlene (Jorge Cortes) Chavez; nieces, Brianna Marie Padilla, Amanda Ramirez and son Joshua Lopez, Desiree Rivera, Krystal Cortes, Kassandra Penilla and Allyson Penilla; nephew Henry Rivera; uncles, Rudy Apodaca, Gilbert (Vicky) Apodaca, Gabriel (Renee Baca) Apodaca; aunts, Viola (José Luis) Favela, Terry (Joe) Sedillo, Dora (Raul) Gomez, Annette (Robert) Jones; cousins Lisa (Ronnie) Sambrano, Chris Apodaca, Amy Gomez, David Apodaca, Jennifer Apodaca, Vanessa Apodaca (Ben) Medina, Gibo (Hope) Apodaca, Gaby (Corrina) Apodaca, Lawrence Sanchez, Jessica Sanchez, Catherine Sedillo, Savannah Gomez and Selina Gomez. Joey was loved and will be missed by all fortunate enough to have known him. He was considered a brother to many. Other family dear to Joey's heart were Gina Jimenez, Aaron Puentes, Danny Pacheco, Martin Marez, Chole Ruiz and Danny Ruiz. Those waiting for him at the gates of heaven were his father, Henry F Apodaca and grandfather Jose C Apodaca. Pallbearers are Michael Apodaca, Gabriel Apodaca, Vanessa Apodaca-Medina, Chris Apodaca, Gibo Apodaca and Gaby Apodaca. A celebration of life service will be officiated by Pastor Tony Romero on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, 11:30 a.m. at La-Paz Grahams Funeral Home on 555 West Amador, Las Cruces, NM 88005. www.lapaz-grahams.com. Interment of the cremains will be held at Masonic Cemetery at 760 South Compress Road, Las Cruces, NM 88005, following the services.
