Joe Mora Obituary
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, Joe "Pepe" Mora, 70 of Anthony on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. "Pepe", as he was fondly known, was born April 30, 1942 in Santo Thomas, N.M. to Tranquilino and Piedad Alarcon Mora. He retired after 39 years of service as a principal and in administrative positions with various schools districts in New Mexico and Texas, and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of nine years, Letty Araiza Mora of the family home; two sons, Joe Mora, Jr. and Jesus M. Mora both of Anthony; four daughters, Marlena Mora-Zimmerman and husband Louie also of Anthony, Jeanette Edwards and husband Jeff of Tampa, Florida, Jennifer Zapata and husband Ruben of El Paso, Texas and Jeanine Yañez and husband Richard also of Anthony. Other survivors include three brothers, Guadalupe Mora and wife Socorro of La Mesa, Jesus Mora and wife Emma of Las Cruces and Oscar Mora and wife Mary of Anthony; two sisters, Delia Madrid and Agueda Mora both of La Mesa; eight grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation for Pepe will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Street in Anthony where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 to celebrate the Funeral Mass in the same church with the Reverend Andres Alava, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Anthony Catholic Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Guadalupe, Jesus and Oscar Mora, Butch Ruiz, Bobby Benavidez, Rudy Franco, Isaac Villalobos and Abe Armendariz. Honorary bearers will be Cristian Rangel, Lonnie Medina, Raul Madrid, Jr., Michael Mora, Steven Mora, Luis Mora, Louie Zimmerman and Joel Zapata.
