Mary L. Amaro, 77, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Dec. 31, 2012. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, July 3, 1935 to Alfredo and Antonia Robles Orosco. Mrs. Amaro was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Post #6917 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include stepdaughter, Diana Delgado and husband Robert of Hereford, Texas; three brothers, Alfredo Orosco and wife Josie of Los Lunas, Ray Orosco and wife Shirley, Val Orosco, all of Las Cruces; four sisters, Amancia "Peggy" Perea of Nashville, Tenn., Micaela Vargas of San Antonio, Texas, Antonia Orosco of Belen, and Elizabeth Alvarez and husband Jimmy of Salem. Other survivors include granddaughter, Christina; numerous nieces, nephews and friends as well as her pet companion, Lucky. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Guillermo Amaro. Visitation for Mrs. Amaro will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the evening service is scheduled for 6 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. in St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina with Rev. Ricardo Bauza officiating. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date in San Antonio, Texas. Mary had a wonderful giving heart and was deeply loved.
